​Big oil and steel monopolies, with their power to consolidate market-share and raise prices, were first first legally challenged in the United States by the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890.

Fast forward 128 years to today: California Attorney General Xavier Becerra  is alleging similar practices by hospital system Sutter Health in Northern California.
